Although Colorado State and San Diego State are both unbeaten, you’d be foolish to bet against a Boise State vs UNLV rematch in the Mountain West championship game.
The Broncos outlasted the Rebels last weekend in front of more than 42,000 at Allegiant Stadium, but a repeat matchup would more than likely be on the blue turf in Boise.
Boise State hasn’t lost to UNLV since 1977 and the win keeps the Broncos’ hopes of making the College Football Playoff alive.
Week 9
Boise State 29 UNLV 24
The numbers: UNLV held Ashton Jeanty to 128 yards rushing, but his 1-yard touchdown run proved to be the winner.
Believe it or not: Boise State is bowl eligible for the 27th consecutive season; only Georgia has a longer active streak.
Colorado State 17 New Mexico 6
The numbers: That’s 13 in a row for the Rams over the Lobos.
Believe it or not: New Mexico had 460 total yards but committed four turnovers.
Utah State 27 Wyoming 25
The numbers: The two teams combined for 848 yards of total offense.
Believe it or not: Utah State ended a six-game losing streak.
Fresno State 33 San Jose State 10
The numbers: FSU’s Mikey Keene was 30/41 for 275 yards and 3 TD’s.
Believe it or not: San Jose State used three QB’s and they combined to throw four interceptions.
Washington State 29 San Diego State 26
The numbers: San Diego State outgained Wazzu 409 yards to 375.
Believe it or not: The Cougars scored the last 15 points of the game and took the lead for good with just over 5 minutes to play.
Hawaii 34 Nevada 13
The numbers: Hawaii QB Brayden Schrager ran (not threw) for four – count ‘em – touchdowns.
Believe it or not: Hawaii’s defense has given up the fewest points of any team in the Mountain West.
Week 10
San Diego State (3-4, 2-0) at Boise State (6-1, 3-0): Hands up if you knew the Aztecs were unbeaten in MWC play? SDSU has won four of the nine meetings including two games on the blue turf.
Air Force (1-6, 0-4) at Army (7-0): Last year Army sent Air Force into its current tailspin with a huge upset over the unbeaten Falcons. Can Air Force return the favor against an undefeated Army? Unlikely, but strange things happen in these academy matchups.
Wyoming (1-7, 1-2) at New Mexico (3-5, 2-2): Wyoming has won five of the last seven meetings. Cowboys look to end a three-game losing streak, Lobos still an outside chance at bowl eligibility.
Hawaii (3-5, 1-2) at Fresno State (5-3, 3-1): Bulldogs have won nine of the last 12 including a 55-13 romp last year.
Colorado State (5-3, 3-0) at Nevada (3-6, 0-3): Rams looking for a fourth straight conference win and a continued share of the MWC lead. This will be CSU head coach Jay Norvell’s second visit to his former school (he won 17-14 in 2022).
